Progressive overload

Progressive overload means raising the demand of your training over time as your ability grows.

Progressive overload: a practical example

For example, you perform another controlled rep at the same weight before increasing the load in a later session.

Use it in your log

When you log your workout, keep this in mind: more weight is one option. Keep technique and range of motion comparable when assessing progress.

Next, use the workout log to keep names, weights and reps in one place. Then check your progress across sessions.
