Deload
A deload is a planned spell of less demanding training within a longer program.
Deload: a practical example
For example, a program temporarily reduces sets, load or another demand before building again.
Use it in your log
When you log your workout, keep this in mind: a deload is a programming choice, not an automatic response to one difficult session.
Next, use the workout log to keep names, weights and reps in one place. Then check your progress across sessions.
