Isolation exercise

An isolation exercise focuses mainly on movement at one joint.

Isolation exercise: a practical example

For example, a leg extension primarily moves at the knee.

Use it in your log

When you log your workout, keep this in mind: other muscles may still stabilize you. Isolation does not mean only one muscle is active.

Next, use the workout log to keep names, weights and reps in one place. Then check your progress across sessions.
