Isometric

An isometric muscle action produces force with little or no change in muscle length or joint position.

Isometric: a practical example

For example, you hold a position against a resistance instead of moving through repetitions.

Use it in your log

When you log your workout, keep this in mind: a timed hold needs a duration entry to describe it; a rep count alone may not be useful.

Next, use the workout log to keep names, weights and reps in one place. Then check your progress across sessions.
