What to Eat Before Ranked: A No-Crash Queue Plan

A practical pre-session meal formula for steady energy, clear focus, and zero keyboard collateral damage.

A high-protein meal ready for a gaming sessionFIELD NOTE / GUIDE

The goal is boring energy

The best pre-ranked meal is not a stunt. It is a familiar combination of protein, carbohydrates, color, and enough time to digest before the queue pops.

Build the plate

  • Start with a palm-sized protein such as chicken, tofu, eggs, or Greek yogurt.
  • Add an easy carbohydrate you already tolerate: rice, oats, potatoes, fruit, or bread.
  • Keep very heavy fats and unfamiliar spice for a session where your rank is not on the line.

Your 90-minute loadout

Eat a normal meal roughly 60–120 minutes before play. Keep water nearby and treat caffeine as a tool, not the foundation of the build.

Consistency beats novelty. The meal you can repeat is the one that belongs in your loadout.

If you are still hungry ten minutes before queueing, choose a small, low-mess top-up such as a banana, yogurt, or toast rather than a second full meal.

Keep building

Your next small action beats the perfect plan.
